About us

Listening with care
since 1958

In 1953, the Revd Chad Varah, founder of the Samaritans, began a listening service in London to help prevent suicide. That belief in the power of a caring conversation later reached Hong Kong, where our branch was formally established in 1960. We have been here ever since, listening to people through some of life’s most difficult moments.
