Call whenever you need someone to listen

You can call (+852)2896 0000 at any time, on any day of the year. You may be dealing with relationships, work, study, health, bereavement, loneliness or thoughts of suicide. You may simply know that things feel difficult without being able to explain why. You do not have to prove that your situation is serious enough before contacting us.

Who can call?

  • Anyone who wants to talk without being judged

  • Anyone feeling lonely, low, helpless or without hope

  • Anyone having thoughts of suicide, or worried about someone they care about

  • Anyone who cannot quite put what is happening into words, but does not want to face it alone

What happens when I call?

Your call will be answered by a trained volunteer. You choose what to say and how much to share, and you can pause or stay silent. The volunteer will listen carefully and respond to how you feel, without judgement or pressure to make a particular decision.

Busy signals, languages and privacy

The hotline does not use recorded messages or an automated answering system. If you hear a busy signal, a volunteer is speaking with another caller, so please try again. Most volunteers speak Cantonese and Putonghua, and some speak other languages or dialects. Calls are answered in English first and often continue in Cantonese. The hotline does not use caller ID.

If you are outside Hong Kong

This hotline is based in Hong Kong. If you are elsewhere, look for emotional support available where you are. If you or someone near you is in immediate danger, contact the local emergency services.
