Learn to identify, respond and refer

A gatekeeper is not a therapist. A gatekeeper notices possible risk, starts a conversation, listens and helps someone connect with appropriate support. This free online course focuses on recognising emotional distress and suicide warning signs among students.

Who the course is for

The course is designed for teachers, school staff, parents and students. No psychology background is required.

What you will learn

The five core areas are the role of a gatekeeper, myths about suicide, identifying warning signs, active listening and accompanying someone through a difficult time, and exploring community resources. The self-paced course takes about one hour, and participants who complete it receive an official e-certificate.
